MAN Digital Industry Summit

On November 30th, MAN ES are opening the doors to the first ever digital convention on turbomachinery in the industry sector – MAN Digital Industry Summit.

The summit will put a special focus on the topics Hydrogen, Carbon Capture Storage, Digital and Omnicare/Upgrades/Turnarounds. These are some of the most important topics for MAN's customers in their effort to make the energy transition become reality.

MECOS have worked closely together with MAN to promote the advantages in digital services and fast response to disturbances and corrections, which are enabled by active magnetic bearing technology. Visitors who would like to access the digital industry summit are welcome to sign up here.

MECOS and MAN have produced two short films for the summit. The first film highlights the close and quick collaboration between MAN and MECOS during an observed disturbance at a customer compressor unit. 

MAN is able to detect the disturbance through continuous data monitoring with their PrimeServ Assist program, and can promptly notify the customer. After establishing a safe connection to the compressor control unit, the parameter files for the MECOS active magnetic bearing controller can be downloaded, adjusted and uploaded by a technical expert from MECOS. The complete operation is done by remote access and the response and correction time is instant. This saves the customer valuable down-time and increases the reliability of the complete compressor system.

The second film showcases an interesting feature, which is enabled by MECOS AMB technology. The AMB controller is able to induce any excitation frequency into the compressor rotor, which can be fine-tuned to allow the compressor unit to play music. If you have ever wondered how the compressor units spend their time during the many months and years of lonely, but reliable, operation, this could answer your question.
